#1 Welcome to my Professional Blog
Hello and welcome to my colleges and friends. My name is Natalie Krug, a senior in Art Education with a focus in Digital Studios. For those who are unfamiliar, Digital Studios refers to utilizing technology as a medium like one would use paint or clay. In my own art making practice I am an illustrator, using technology to create images for the purpose of storytelling. I have had the recent fortune of illustrating my first book for a Wisconsin native, which has brought me many lessons about interacting with individuals and the steps required to bringing an idea to fruition. I hope to illustrate more in the near future to grow my skills as well as share my love of story telling with my future students and colleges. Below is a sample image from the book!
As an individual I have placed high expectations on myself for my future and see Art Education as one of many stepping stones in my life. Eventually I wish to continue on to graduate school to become a medical illustrator where I will work with others to create imagery that will help a wide range of people better understand their own biology as well as assist with creating visuals for advancements in medicine and research as a whole. I find that this is a way in which I will be able to help a vast majority of people so that everyone can understand their own anatomy.
Although not my long term goal, I still look forward to interacting with students young and old, teaching them about how art is more than pencil and paper. Art is a tool that can be utilized to redefine, analyze our surroundings, challenge our understandings, and participate in bettering our communities. My wish is to share this with my future students, for them to not feel that as an artist you must live up the formalist ideals.
Hi Natalie. Just testing the comments!
ReplyDeleteHi, Natalie. I love the image which you created for the book. I read a lot of fairytales when I was a Child. Many Fairytale books were from Western countries. I noticed the differences between eastern fairy and western fairy the first time when I saw the image in the fairytale book. Your image brought me back to the scene that I was very excited to show my mom the image and told her how special the fairy was. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteA testing comment by any other name is still a testing comment...
